More Updates... #doctoralpursuit

I’m still moving forward. I have some updates for you. One is not so happy. I told you last time that I had seven courses (I am taking two this term) left until this portion is complete. Well, when looking at my degree plan and consulting my advisor I discovered that I have two additional courses that I had not accounted for. Instead of being done next spring, I will be done next summer (which makes sense because I started in the summer). That makes it a little more challenging to make my goal of completing every thing by the end of 2020. I think I can do it, but it will take work. I almost got discouraged, but I realize that course work is part of the pursuit and it is all necessary in reaching my goal. I don’t want to skip any steps in this process.

I have often stated that I will take every opportunity to talk about my research topic, even if it is not fully developed yet. I say that because I know that the more I talk about it, the easier it will be for me to talk about it when it comes time that I have to defend it and write about it. I have yet another opportunity to do this, Next week, I will present my research at the A & M-Commerce Research Symposium. Instead of doing a presentation, I will do a poster presentation. This will be the first time for me presenting in the manner. I am excited to do this but nervous at the same time because I have not fully prepared for it yet. I will be doing it this weekend. I will be talking about my Research and taking questions from people who come to see it. I have to have my contact information ready to share with anyone. This is a networking opportunity as well as practice to the read deal.
